The Saeco Vienna Automatic Espresso Machine – Coffee Perfection

Ever since the early 1980’s Saeco have been at the cutting edge of coffee making technology, indeed they were the first maker to create a two cup espresso machine. Saeco went on to acquire Gaggia taking control of almost two thirds of the domestic espresso machine market, and over 30% of the total European coffee machine market incorporating commercial use. This strength in numbers approach has permitted Saeco to have an advantage over a lot of other espresso machine brands in the marketplace.

We are looking at the Saeco Vienna machine today and so it is valuable to know where the Saeco Vienna Espresso machine is aiming at – domestic or commercial? In this case most beyond doubt domestic. It certainly isn’t one of the most inexpensive entry level machines on the market; however the good news is that it is one of the most feature rich and most fully automated. This goes a long way towards justifying the sizeable price ticket. Powered by a 1250 watt commercial level element the Saeco Vieena is intended to automate the whole process of making an Espresso, Latte or Cappuccino.

With the push of a button the Saeco Vienna grinds coffee beans from the built-in bean hopper, automatically tamps the ground coffee into the brew cup, before pushing water through the freshly ground coffee. This brews a cup of espresso,or the base coffee blend for a latte or cappuccino. Lastly it deposits the spent grounds into a waste container, the complete process taking about 30 seconds from start to close.

When producing a cappuccino or latte, there’s a hot water and steam wand with a milk-frothing attachment. The Saeco Vienna has around a 35-second delay from brewing to steaming the milk, and conversely a 15 second delay from steaming to brewing. The machine is super straightforward to use, a button selecting one or two cups, a knob adjusting cup size right up to 10 ounces, and a button to make it all happen meaning that fresh coffee is an instant away.

If the machine runs out of beans or water it will automatically turn off the power, the control panel status lights indicating the exact cause of the interruption. This safety system means that there is no danger of damage if things run dry. You will need a fairly spacious and robust counter top as the Saeco Vienna measures 15 inches high, 13 inches wide, and 13 inches deep; weighs 19 pounds dry and comes in a tasteful marble-gray plastic. The coffee bean hopper holds just over 12 ounces of coffee, whilst the removable water tank holds 57 ounces – more than enough for a cup or two.

The coarseness of the coffee grind is of principal importance for best espresso, it is therefore welcome to note that the Saeco’s grinder adjusts from extra fine to coarse. For cleaning and maintenance most parts remove simply and the machine comes with extremely comprehensive and clear instructions on assembly and care. It also carries a one-year warranty against defects

If you are a genuine coffee drinker you will be grateful for the ability to make two good sized doses of espresso at a time, and the ease of use puts every other Espresso machines in the shade meaning that the Saeco Vienna must be on your shortlist if looking for a new espresso machine.

Geoff Cliffe is a afficiado of all things coffee and is happy trying outall gadgets and machines in the pursuit of Espresso Perfection. He has an interesting website where he has a lot of Espresso Machine Reviews. Be sure to check out his latest review of the Saeco Vienna Espresso Machine.

The Espresso Machine Comes In Small Sizes

Espresso is one of Americas post popular drinks. Although coffee has always had its place in the home and office, it’s not the same as the specialty coffees. Traditions for many people have included drinking espresso and with the franchise market finding this kept secret, have made it available to everyone. An Espresso machine can be purchase for a business or home.

Many kitchens now have an espresso machine sitting there. Some are small styles of the machines with choices like the hand held espressos. In the top, you put your ground beans and the high-pressure spray will force the water through creating the frothing foam. You do no hold the cup or machine; you put the cup underneath the drip. This is great to use wherever you have hot water.

Do you like caffeine? Espresso has three times the caffeine that regular coffee has. We do add extras to espresso that take up volume in the cup, so maybe we’re not getting as much caffeine? Franchising took the Italian style espresso and experimented with syrups, soy milks, extract flavors, and whipped cream to give us the drink we have today.

To make good espressos at home creating foam like the conventional machines is a Moka pot. It goes on the stove top and is easy to use. There are two types of espresso machines for commercial use. The spring piston machine and the pump driven machine. These machines are economical and work all day creating that wonderful warm flavor. You can hook into the water lines and fill it automatically.

When you are a social drinker you can save your money and let those at home purchase the machines. The cost is parallel with the need to own one since the cost can be high. The machines are built to be used for years, like appliances. This is something to keep in mind when considering purchasing a machine.

There is a secret to brewing that great cup. Would you guess it is the Grinder? This is the big secret to making espresso as the pro’s do. Beans must be finely ground, almost down to particles in order for the process to make a great taste for the coffee bean that you choose.

Spending any money at all on an espresso machine and buy any grinder will not guarantee good espresso. You are looking at spending on the grinder, around 1/3 the cost of the espresso machine.

A favorite buy for businesses is the automatic Espresso machines. The consumers tend to pick the semi automatic, which cost less and operates without hassles but gives as much control as most people need.

Check out a couple of things when shopping. Make sure your cups will fit in the clearance area of the drip tray. Is the tray for cup-warming real or just for looks? Make sure you can read the switches and print is sometimes very small. All you need is a little time to shop around for your new espresso machine.
