As people become more concerned about healthy food choices, healthy drinks should be viewed as equally important. The next time you need to quench your thirst, reach for these healthy options:

Water. Your body needs to stay well-hydrated in order to function normally. Drinking water helps regulate your body temperature, so it is very important to drink water during exercise. Your body loses water through your breathing and by sweating while you exercise. Dehydration slows down your body’s metabolism and impedes healing. Water promotes the circulation of blood and vital fluids within our bodies. Water also revitalizes, detoxifies, and oxygenates the skin. There is simply no substitute for water and everyone should drink at least 8 glasses every day.

Cranberry juice. These colorful red berries are loaded with vitamin C and studies show that an ingredient in cranberries prevents bacteria from adhering to the walls of the bladder, preventing bladder and urinary tract infections. The powerful antioxidants in cranberry juice helps get rid of free radicals and reduces inflammation. Drinking a glass of cranberry juice each day will also help lower your cholesterol. Stick to 100% cranberry juice and avoid cranberry juice cocktails, which have added sugar.

Green tea. The health benefits of green tea are seemingly endless. Green tea is not only a major source of antioxidants, but it can also help reduce the over-production of harmful enzymes in your body that may eventually lead to cancer. Forget your morning cup of coffee and enjoy a relaxing cup of green tea instead. Naturally occurring compounds in green tea are responsible for regulating blood sugar levels by promoting glucose metabolism, blocking glucose absorption and increasing insulin activity.

Don’t be fooled by these sugary, colorful drinks. They may masquerade as healthy and inviting, but in fact, these beverage are loaded with extra sugar and fat.

Fancy coffee drinks. The traditional cup of coffee has had quite a make-over, and not in a healthy way. In addition to the huge dose of caffeine, fancy coffee drinks are laden with fat and calories from extras such as whipped cream, flavored syrups, chocolate sprinkles, even candy pieces.

Summer cocktails. Summer parties and picnics are not complete without a festive cocktail or two. But beware: these colorful, cheerful drinks pack quite a few calories. Pina coladas, margaritas, and daiquiris are drowning in calories, and that is even before the liquor is added.

Smoothies. Don’t be lured by the health claims made by some smoothie makers. Many smoothies claim to be healthy but the added fat and calories tell a very different story. Sugary juices, full-fat dairy products, and other extras make this drink a high calorie mistake.

Antioxidant Drinks include one of the most popular drinks in the world – coffee. Most people like or have to start their day off with their favorite cup of coffee. Coffee is a stimulant that most people seem to need in order to get them off to a blazing start with their incredibly busy lives.

Most people will suffer in some way from the ill effects of caffeine that all coffee contains. Caffeine can leave you with a feeling of agitation or feeling nervous because of its harmful effects on your nervous system. Not to mention the digestive distress that every cup of coffee seems to create because of the acidity in coffee.

On the bright side, coffee does contain a decent amount of antioxidants.

Why Do We Need Antioxidants?

Antioxidants consist of a group of substances such as vitamins, minerals, flavonoids, enzymes and amino acids that prevent cell oxidation and thus prevent damage to your healthy cells.

Antioxidants are a great way to stop the harmful effects of free radicals.

Toxic substances such as pesticides, chemicals, radiation, pollution, drugs and alcohol all take a toll on our bodies and create free radicals.

Antioxidants work by donating an electron to convert free radicals to harmless molecules. This donation of an electron by antioxidants protects your cells from oxidative damage that leads to aging and various diseases.

Antioxidant Drinks Meets a Powerful Herb

A new coffee called “Healthy Coffee” has emerged on the scene and this coffee comes with one of the most powerful herbs in the world – The Reishi Mushroom.

The Reishi Mushroom is a medicinal mushroom and it is also known as Ganoderma Lucidum. This mushroom has a 2000 to 4000 year record of being used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The Chinese called this mushroom Ling Zhi. Other names for this powerful herb were “The Mushroom of Immortality” and “The Herb of Spiritual Potency”.

It is known for fixing such health disorders as heart problems, diabetes, and digestive distress. These are only a few of the ailments that can be helped with the hundreds of nutrients and wealth of antioxidants found in reishi.

Your body’s immune system can only get stronger with the use of this mushroom as it helps your body to detoxify and get rid of unwanted toxins.

Healthy Coffee versus Your Everyday Coffee

Healthy Coffee contains triterpenoids to help with your digestive system as drinking regular coffee will actually stop your digestive system from working.

Keeping a more alkaline pH balance is important in maintaining your health and healthy coffee contains alkaloids that help to keep acidity down.

The side effects of too much caffeine wears down your adrenal system and the adaptogens found in healthy coffee are good at helping your system to bounce back.

My Personal Experience

You may forget how many side effects come with drinking regular coffee when you make the switch, but you will be reminded every time you run out and resort to drinking the old coffee again. Two days is all it takes for me to feel just awful.

I live in a place with some of the most sought after coffee and still can’t drink the stuff!

This coffee will give you a energy boost, but not stimulate your nervous system to death. It is such a different feeling that I was under the impression that it contained almost no caffeine.

The reishi mushroom seems to contain a property that helps my brain to be more at peace. In fact, I sometimes drink this coffee late in the evening and I don’t really have trouble falling asleep.

Healthy Coffee is one of the most powerful antioxidant drinks and really does help with the acidity problem. It doesn’t seem to upset my digestion like drinking regular coffee surely will.

You won’t have harsh coffee breath after drinking this coffee because it is one of the smoothest tasting of all coffees.

Have your coffee and drink it too. This coffee gives you the coffee experience without so much the coffee problems. It is worth giving it a try.
