What You Need To Look For In A Gourmet Coffee Maker

Of course, you’ll need to do plenty of comparison shopping in your search. Be sure to assess all your reasons for purchasing a commercial espresso machine. Coffee machines come in all shapes and sizes. You will need to assess each depending on your personal circumstances and needs, one of the the factors to consider of course is your budget.

Brewing four cups an hour is typical of some espresso machines. However, commercial designs can produce a larger volume in the same amount of time. The presence of several carafes and burners is another perk. Depending on your usage and how many coffee lovers you need to address, you will want to take these factors into consideration as you shop.

The amount of company you is a big factor in choosing the perfect commercial espresso machine. Some have their own hot water valve in addition to four burners (two on the top and bottom). There are some truly colossal commercial espresso machines if you need the larger capacity. Office or event-related coffee machines can produce 100 cups of java if need be.

The capacity of these appliances really varies by model and design. There are some machines that can produce 120 cups in just sixty minutes. You’ll find these big boys in cafes and restaurants that need lots of coffee, fast. A machine like this can get someone started in the coffeehouse business.

If you’re looking for the best coffee machine to use at home, you’ll find that the ten-cup per day models fit the bill. The average person certainly doesn’t need a commercial machine that makes 120 cups in an hour. Automatic coffee machines definitely fit the bill for commercial use.

Browsing through review websites is another great way to select the right machine. The benefit to having a commercial machine at home is the time and money you will save. An espresso machine will economize the amount of coffee used, a continual source of savings.

It’s never been more challenging to choose a Top Rated Coffee Maker, which is why this site from Jack Delonghi will help you find different brands such as Capresso Coffee Makers that will knock your socks off. You can even find Office Coffee Makers for work.

Why Do We Drink So Much Coffee?

Did you know that around the globe we drink over a billion cups of coffee on an average day? That is billion not million – which is a whole lot of coffee! Everyone seems to love this simple little drink, but why is that? Let’s look at the top reasons here:

Caffeine - Ah yes, this has to be the first and main reason why people drink coffee. Now not everyone drinks coffee for the kick it gives you, I got off that rollercoaster years ago and only drink decaffeinated now, but only something like 10% of coffee consumed is decaff.

Caffeine is actually a stimulant which is why people love it so much. When you wake up in the morning and you have to drag yourself out of your comfy bed and down into the cold kitchen, then people like to have a quick ‘pick me up’ to get them started on their way. After you drink your coffee and the caffeine kicks in then your tiredness falls away and you feel alert and ready to face the day. Caffeine also raises your dopamine levels (like an amphetamine does) which makes you feel good, another reason people love it!

The scary thing is that caffeine is actually classed as a psychoactive drug, and you can get addicted to it. The ‘high’ that people experience from a cup of coffee is only shortlived, around an hour or so in a typical coffee drinker. After that then you start to crash and will feel worse than before you had a cup, so then most people go and grab another cup to pick themselves up again.

Taste - In a world dominated by sugary, carbonated beverages, then it is nice to have something like coffee which is more of a savoury taste. It is something entirely different to other kinds of drinks, which makes it more appealing.

Social reasons - Coffee is so popular that almost everywhere you go you’ll be offered a cup, it is part of the social side of our lives, we all get together round a good brew and have a chat. Plus you can get it almost anywhere now so you never have to struggle to get a cup.

Temperature - If we didn’t have tea and coffee then what other hot drinks would we enjoy? Maybe hot chocolate, but that is not really a drink you can enjoy throughout the day. So the fact that coffee is hot is a big selling point, I love to have a warm drink on a cold winters day, there is nothing better.

There is no doubt that the world is in the grip of coffeemania, and these are the reasons why. I think that as time progresses then we’ll only grow to love this drink more, and now I’m off to get a cup of coffee?

A great way to make real coffee is with a vacuum coffee maker, it makes a great tasting brew and it is fun to watch! If that sounds good then you might want to consider a Bodum Santos coffee maker.

Fair Trade Coffee Is Catching On!

You might not realize it, but that morning cup of coffee is increasingly wearing the “fair trade” label. Often people are not quite sure what is meant by the term fair trade. In all fairness, if that describes you, don’t worry about it. Fair trade is still catching on and is still relatively new in the mass consciousness. Yet, there can be no real doubt that fair trade will continue to grow in popularity. There is just so much global momentum behind the entire movement.

While fair trade can have a somewhat complex definition, in general, it means that industrialized countries adopt trading practices with developing countries that are fairer in nature. Often the goods and crops that receive the most attention are those goods and crops that have had a long history of underpaying workers. Coffee has been such a crop, as have been sugar and chocolate.

In recent years, there has been a simply amazing increase in the amount of fair trade certified goods that have been sold worldwide. In 2008, it is estimated that about $4 billion dollars of goods have been sold globally under the fair trade label. While specifics may vary, one of the key components of fair trade is that there are fewer middlemen involved in the trade process. Hopefully, this means that the farmer or worker responsible for cultivating the crop or product receives a far greater wage for their labor.

More than likely you have seen the “fair trade” term label on coffee that you have purchased or were considering purchasing. It is still fairly common for people to be somewhat confused about what fair trade coffee is and where it comes from. In general, when you see the fair trade label, you know that the coffee you are buying is coffee where those involved in the production of the coffee received a fair wage. Coffee, like sugar, cocoa, chocolate and several other products, has a history of being grown or cultivated in a less than fair environment. The fair trade movement began as an attempt to address this situation of imbalances in equality.

So what can fair trade mean for you? There is a relatively simple and straightforward way to help insure that your purchase of goods such as coffee is done in a fairer fashion. The facts are that fair trade coffee is of exceptional quality and comes from around the world. This means that no matter what bean is your favorite bean, you just might be able to find it wearing the fair trade label. Fair trade organizations are working hard to bring even more products (including more coffee products) to the market under the fair trade label. When buying coffee, consider buying a bag or two that sports that fair trade label and help send the message that you are interested in supporting the core concepts of fair trade. In this way, your cup of coffee will be extra sweet.

Ray Kendall is a self-professed “coffee buff,” and has been drinking coffee since age six. Kendall feels that no comfort food can match the wonderful goodness that is the “magic bean.” Now he drinks coffee organic coffee and writes about drinking coffee whenever he gets the chance.
